The greatest thing about Puppets Up! is all of the friends we make. Every year, about 10,000 of our friends, new and old, come for a visit in Almonte because they just can’t get enough of our crazy puppets.

Behind the scenes, we make friends with the visiting puppet troupes too and some of them have a special place in our hearts. This year, the Docela velke divadlo troupe from Litvinov in the Czech Republic is coming back to renew their connection with Puppets Up! friends. Their performances in Canada are also meant as a cultural goodwill gesture from the Czech Republic to Canada.

This 12-member company will present their production of “Swan Lake” at an afternoon matinee (2 p.m.) on Friday, August 10.  We can’t tell you how excited we are to see them again. Their vigorous mix of music, dance, masks and puppetry definitely highlights the “international” flavor and reputation of Puppets Up!
